In groups of 5 members each, research for
photomicrographs and or sketch of a cross section of the following:
1.Structure of a typical motor neuron
(dendrites, soma, axon, synaptic terminals) - Subtypes
2.Neuroglia. (a)
Astrocyte. (b) Microglial cell. (c) Ependymal cells. (d) Oligodendrocyte. (e)
Neuron with Schwann cells and satellite cells.*
3.Specialized synapses
in skeletal muscle are called neuromuscular junctions.
- Cranial n. (CN V) vs. Peripheral Nerve - Sciatic nerve (x.s. and l.s.) Identify nerve fibers, myelin sheaths, fascicles, and endoneurium, perineurium, and epineurium sheaths.
- Cerebrum - unique cells; brain centers
- Cerebellum - - unique cells; brain centers
- Unique cells; brain centers; Brainstem – Midbrain; Pons Medulla
- Spinal Cord
- Spinal ganglion
- Longitudinal view of myelinated axon showing portions of adjacent Schwann cells and the node of Ranvier between them.
- Non - myelinated axon.
- Illustrate (sketch) the process of Myelination of neuron
